Starting in the 1950s, World Editions (an Italian publishing company) decided they wanted to break into the US market with a new sci-fi magazine. They create Galaxy Science Fiction which became a leading SF magazine of the time. The magazine was published monthly from October 1950 until its end in 1980. (You can read more about the history of the magazine on Wikipedia.)
Since then, the only way to access these issues and their marvelous covers was if you lucked out and discovered someone selling their collection of these vintage sci-fi magazines. That changed last week when 355 issues from 1950 to 1976 were uploaded to Archive.org.
If you love retro sci-fi magazine covers, you should scroll through the collection and check out the gorgeous and vintage covers. If you love reading vintage science fiction, each issue is available to read online or download in e-reader friendly file types like epub, Kindle, or PDF.
These magazines are filled with stories from SFF greats like Isaac Asimov, Robert Silverberg, Harlan Ellison, Joanna Russ, George R.R. Martin, and Ursula K. Le Guin. Check out these retro covers and find some new to you classic science fiction stories to read.
